why cant they forge the players on the pc and xbox versions of TF2? i swear they have managed to do it for other games. it sucks that xbox players cant get the advantage of the massive pc gamer base! it would totally boost the amount of xbox players and make the games better.

PC gamers would have some advantages... plus the current version of the 360 version is far from being updated to match the pc version.

i just get frustrated at the lack of games on the 360 sometimes. i have always been a pc gamer but bought a 360 for being cheaper than upgrading my pc. is strange how xbox live is so much easier than alot of pc formats (steam included) and we just cant get the TF2 players we need. maybe i will just go buy CoD4!

I feel ya... main reason I picked up TF2 on the PC.  COD4 is ok.. but just seemed bland after my 2nd run through the ranks.

Another thing i didnt like about xbox live is there is only 8 people on each team max which makes a 16 players game kind of boring in a way, I like more people because more people= more fun&pwning. For pc cd4, you could have a maximum of 64 players which is like a mini battle and i love that.

Name one game that has implemented cross-platform gaming after its release on multiple platforms, because I can't think of one right now.  Supporting cross-platform gaming as a feature in a game is one thing, deciding to do it after the title has already been released is something else.

Why don't they implement cross-platform gaming?  I don't think it's as easy as you'd think.  How about the fact that the versions are incompatible considering the differences between them?  The Xbox 360 version has corners cut, being limited to 16 players and all, along with lacking updates and dedicated servers.  MudNAZ, I'd like to see what the benefits of cross-platform gaming are and if they would out-weigh the disadvantages.  People playing on the PC would have a huge advantage, or if Valve really did make TF2 a cross-platform compatible game at launch (which it didn't, see: port), then that would leave PC gamers becoming "fairly" gimped to let the console players catch up (i.e. Shadowrun).  And another thing, I wouldn't know about compatibility between Steam and Live, seeing as how Shadowrun only ran on Live.

It's because games on live are user hosted instead of server hosted.

We already get enough idiots who think their slightly below average connections can host 16 man games, thank you.

They considered this, they had even implemented it during development, but decided there would be too many issues to deal with.
As Sp3cialK mentioned, the main issues would be updates and the PC advantage [scripts, skills, etc].

You know I don't even think about it now... but I'd be lost without my scripts... lol.. they aren't that extravagant but I just know what does what and have become accustom to it.  I'm sure with a little time back at default I'd be fine... feels weird when I do play on 360 not being able to have my weapons switch like I want.

Not just that, Malcom, but the Xbox 360 can barely handle 16+ player games.  Frequently, the glitch which has allowed more than sixteen players to be in my game has often made it difficult to play due to low frame rates.

Another thing:  The more does not necessarily mean the merrier.  Especially for competitive matches it's harder to get organized and coordinated the more players you have.  It can get quite chaotic.  Look at Gears of War.  It has an eight player limit, but the game play mechanics work out quite well and it's quite enjoyable to play, and makes it quite the team-oriented game.
