http://tf2maps.net/payload_contest.php

tf2maps.net recently ended a mapping contest lasting several months. In the end, 9 great-looking complete maps were entered into the competition. I suggest anyone who likes payload check out the map pack, and we also might play some of these in our late night failanders/highlanders. I know we've played a couple of them already.

You guys need to get some of these in during a weekend failander or highlander (after the normal late night). Because I know I never get the chance to try out any of the none standard maps. Like I know you guys started playing cp_freight well before it became mainstream. Most the CEVO teams don't even know it or hadn't heard of it until a few weeks ago.

Halfacre is easily my favorite out of all of those, though I've yet to play viper's den. Zig is unplayable for me due to some weird error I get when loading the map.

There were over 30 "work in progress" contest threads made on the tf2maps.net site. These 9 were the people who ran the gauntlet, so to speak, and came out with a good, playable finished map at the end. The actual winner hasn't been decided yet; in fact, one of the reasons the map pack was created was to help people play the maps and vote on a winner.

I've spent more time the past 3 weeks to month playing cashworks.  Since it isn't on these servers much, that means I haven't been on here as often as in the past.  It is definitely better than goldrush and probably badwater as well.  I tried fronteir also, but I haven't had as much of my steam friends playing it, so I haven't play it as much as I could have.  Payload maps in general are better than capture the flag, and most variation of the control point scheme.  Therefore, they should be featured more prominently, not just on late night pubs.

A lot of the people here don't like the spam associated with payload maps, where all the action is focused on one particular point of the map and there are lots of choke points. I'm not saying a good payload map can't be done, just that I think push cp has some inherent advantages.

I definitely have a lot of fun on badwater though, and I think payload in particular plays great on highlander matches.
